The next question that arises as a result of it is the need to attend this conference. We have also covered that part and we would put-forth our case below.
Pharmaceutical Sciences:
The process of drug discovery and design is a complex and tedious process that intends to cover various aspects before entering the market. Pharmaceutical sciences comprise various scientific domains which are critical in the process of designing and developing a novel product. Some of the domains include organic chemistry, life science studies, biotechnology, and bioengineering studies and integrating them in the production of a novel drug product. These are the fundamental and essential factors that are considered for the identification and production of quality and novel products into the market. They also help to optimize a product in a certain way so it won’t affect the system and at the same time provide a clear solution so as to treat an infection/disease.
Nutraceuticals:
Nutraceuticals is an improving domain in the pharmaceutical sector in which the product (drug) is derived from the food sources thereby adding additional health benefits to the ones consuming and also improving the nutritional values of the individuals who are using such products. These products that are derived from the nutraceutical domain helps in maintaining a healthy human system, controlling any symptoms from diseases that may have arisen before and also prevent the system from having any malignant process in the system.
Pharmacology:
Pharmacology is a major study that comes under the domain of pharmaceutical sciences which intends to study the action of the drug which enters the system. Pharmacology defines the interaction between the chemicals and the human system and how it influences treating the disease. The pharmacological studies help in understanding the optimal level of drug composition needed to treat disease and the way the drug needs to be designed so it may be enough to treat the complexion within the system. This is the major step that is to be followed before the production of the drugs on a larger scale.
Toxicology:
Toxicology, also referred to as “Science of Safety” is a practice that is being followed by the pharmaceutical sectors around the world to identify the safety level of the chemical products or drugs before getting developed at a larger scale. The process of drug production involves using chemicals that are not familiar with the human system and are considered harmful. Toxicology studies analyses such drugs or chemicals and details the info regarding the potential uses or harms it may cause to the public. The toxicology process is essential in the process of Drug development as even a minor increase in any of those chemical components will gravely affect the human system.
Pharmaceutical Biotechnology:
Pharmaceutical biotechnology is a novel and innovative process in which the concept of Biotechnology is integrated with pharmaceutical studies to develop a novel and innovative drug product. The current market is filled with bio-tech-developed products (bio-formulations) such as vaccines, antibodies, nucleic acid products, etc. One of the major product developments that are derived through this domain involves removing and altering our own cells and directing our system to eliminate the disease. This method is found successful and now nearly 51% of the biotechnology-related solutions are used by health care and pharmaceutical domains.
Pharmaceutical Technology- Digital Pill
One of the most controversial, yet innovative ideas that have been developed during this decade is the creation of Digital pills. Digital Pills or smart pills is an advanced pharmaceutical product in which the formulated drug products consist of ingestible sensor which ones enter the human system will start to transmit the medicinal data of the drug product once it gets consumed. The major purpose of developing this medicinal pill is to check whether the patient adheres to their medication. The first-ever approved digital pill was introduced in 2017 and since then, various types of such digitals pills are developed and are being used for treatment.
Pharmacognosy:
The process of producing drugs arises from various sources (mainly chemical) which derive a quality medicinal product to humans. But in the current years, some of the drug products are being developed from plants, animals, and microbes which also shows the same efficacy as before. Pharmacognosy helps in analyzing the chemical, biological and physical properties of those products before being developed into a drug. It is noted that the human system tends to accept the medicines that are derived from plant sources more and in recent years, even in the chemical formulation of drugs, some natural products are being utilized for the development of drugs to improve their acceptance rate.
Pharmaceutical Nanotechnology:
The drugs that are massively developed with varying chemical characteristics will drastically affect the individual who is to take those drugs. Reduction in size is one of the important factors that are being followed by developing pharmaceutical sectors around the world as it will considerably increase the drug’s solubility rate, reduced toxicity, and improving the bioavailability of the drug. With improving the efficacy of the drug products, the pharmaceutical sectors are focusing on involving nanotechnology to get quality results in the drug production process.
Quality Control: Pharmaceutical Products
One of the essential stages of Drug development before entering into the market is to verify whether the product design has followed the necessary standards set by the FDA so that those products can be produced for commercial use. Quality control involves checking the product or drug and verifying whether it meets the medicinal standard and can be used by the people. This helps in identifying counterfeit drugs and regulates the nominal flow of the drug production process.
Pharmaceutical Engineering:
The process of developing a drug requires a sterile and individual location and also altering various factors within that space to provide a specific condition for the drug to develop. Pharmaceutical Engineering helps in designing and improving the manufacturing facilities where the drugs are being produced. The solutions are derived based on the production company’s needs and the optimal environment which is needed to develop and manufacture the drugs. They follow a specific set of processes named Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) to provide an ideal and quality production place.
Pharmaceutical Microbiology:
Pharmaceutical microbiology involves studying the microorganisms that are being used in the production of a pharmaceutical product. As microorganisms may be toxic or non-toxic, they may gravely affect the immune system, and the development of these drugs requires careful preparation and development so as they cannot activate their properties but their medicinal activity once it enters the human system. They also help in ensuring whether the finished pharmaceutical product is sterile or not so as to continue the production process of the products.
Drug Delivery Systems:
The main activity of the developed drug is to treat or eliminate the diseases at a certain place within the human system. If the drug gets activated before even it reaches the desired location, the developed drug can be considered a failure. Drug delivery is an essential factor that determines the activation of the drug. They are used for the targeted delivery of the drugs and also to release a certain amount of therapeutic agents once it enters the system. This is considered as one of the essential processes in the drug delivery process as it considerably improves the efficacy of the drug.
Pharmacy Practice:
Pharmacy practice involves studying and understanding the roles of drugs and how they can be prescribed to an individual. They are referred to as pharmacists who develop an ability to understand the drugs that can be used in certain cases. There is an increase in a number of generic drugs around the world and pharmacists can let you know about the alternative medicine with the same efficacy if the prescribed medicine is not available.
Industrial Pharmacy:
The process of developing a drug is tedious and tiresome work. The Industrial Pharmacy includes every sector that is involved in and pharmaceutical sector which includes manufacturing development, marketing, and distribution, and also quality assurances associated with the process. This helps in organizing the entire process while looking out for any discrepancies while developing these products.
Pharmaceutical Companies:
With the global pandemic altering the entire landscape of the drug production process, the pharmaceutical companies have changed their ways in helping during this pandemic by providing novel and safely developed drugs that are being used around the world. They handle some of the most complex and important processes of developing quality products and providing assurances against various diseases. They can develop a generic brand or even their own brand depending on the market and deliver it to the people
